Sorry.. I did forget to mention that I'm eyeing the 20B figuring that

the XL5 needs something in or near the 300 HP range.

As for the build time.. I'm figuring 2-3 years.  Maybe optimistic..

maybe not.  I figured 2000 hours

Hello; Ryan,

I’ve got a normally aspirated 265hp, 20B on my Velocity SE RG and I think it’s great.  That would work fine on an XL; but I think you’d like to have a turbo on it for that – and on the XL there is plenty of room in the cowl.

Not to be discouraging; but you may want to double your time estimate.  I put over 4000 hours into mine; but I did everything myself, and I tend to be more meticulous than the average.  I have a friend who has a nice SE RG airframe complete that is for sale.  That’s about half the job; the rest is in the electrical, engine, finish, etc. Of course the SE is not going to fit 5; especially since your kids will be somewhat grown by the time the plane is finishedJ.

If you’re interested you can check out some info on my plane at http://members.cox.net/alg3/airplane.htm.  I’m at about 155 hour mark now.

All the best,

Al G
