I cant speak for anyone else, but my engine goes lean
when it stages. I know what location in the MCT the transition occurs by
looking at the MCT using the EFISM in real time. I simply set the first
location where it runs on 4 injectors way richer than the previous location.
The next couple of locations gradually taper back down to a more normal
mixture. At this point I trial and error adjust the rich location back down
until the bog re-appears, then richen back up a little. Its really pretty
straight forward with the EFISM - I assume Tracy's EM makes it equally easy.

Mike,
Judging from the ease with which you tuned out the staging bog, you
have a pretty good handle on how to tune the engine with the EC-2/3.
For the benefit of the ones of us who are still trying to understand
that tricky little gem, could you give us some kind of blow by blow as to how
you went about tuning the bog out? I am wondering what you looked for to
determine where the problem was and what you then did with trial and error? to
tune it out.

For anyone who hasnt had that first engine run and is
looking for some motivation. A buddy visited the hangar a few weeks ago and
shot some video of an engine runup. He posted it to his website and you can
find it here:
This was shot right after I re-installed my original muffler
after the aborted DNA muffler test. Noticeable in the video is the big staging
bog. I had this tuned out about 15 minutes after he shot the video.
