I=92ve been flying 10 + years with the eccentric shaft balls and springs
 removed and Webber jets installed.  At our normal rpm the balls would
always be open in any case, so the Jets just eliminated one more failure
point (in my opinion)

A piece of a failed spring going through the oil pump would be a down side.
