Here's a pic of it. Ed Klepesis has welded it up-air passes thru the center of it to help cool it.

Thanks for the pic Marc.  It sure is a convenient size, but I wonder how it performs compared to a traditional 2 in 1 collector system.  Was any of this an off the shelf product, or is it just something that Ed Klepesis created?  Does he sell them?

Thanks,
Rusty

I can answer a few questions concerning the VAM muffler. It was not designed by Ed Klepeis, but he did make the first one and submitted it for testing (done at Tracy Crook's fly-in).  Another rotary enthusiast, I 'm pretty sure his name is Jerry Bass, has volunteered to test the muffler on his aircraft.  I understand that the test results were favorable, and that it did ingest air into the front of the "donut hole" and that air exited out the rear, which theoretically should cool the muffler and it's exhaust. The down side was that it was a little loud, so they are looking at modifications to make it more quiet. The test wasn't completely fair to the muffler, as they were unable to attach the tailpipe for testing (engine mount/stand was in the way, I believe).

I talked to Ed about purchasing one, and he said that they were going to wait for test results, in case there were mods or improvements required befor making them for others. So, hopefully, we will have some more test results soon, and I'm hoping that I am way on top of the list to get the first or second one?  Attached is another picture, showing the front inlet/cooling hole.  Hope this is of some help and or interest?  Paul Conner
