Greg, I don't have the posting anymore, but ATF mixed 50/50 with acetone is by far the best, I have been using it since the early 80's and it is amazing how large an area one drop will cover.  JohnD

A while ago someone on this list (I think) posted the results of an experiment using different penetrating oils such as WD40.  The test if I recall correctly was the torque required to undo a rusty nut and bolt using different oils. The results were surprising.
 
I saved the email in a very safe place and can't find it could someone resend it please.
