Mike;  I just got back to work from Oshkosh, was not at hanger after I' promised photos but will be there this evening & will photo/send to you, I think you have it peged with plugs under epoxy that is how ours is, will double check.  The Airbus A380 was flown in to Osh by their #1 test pilot, #2 test pilot in R. seat is Terry Lutz, one of our chapter members from Chapter 55 here in Mason MI, we had VIP tour & special photos taken of all our members who could make the trip.   """air-bus""" loads of fun.  Check out the reads on it both these guys are builders of EXP. planes, RV8=Terry & Cri-Cri by ? can't remember his name test pilot #1 the French dude, nice guy, prety gutsy to fly that Cri-Cri, very, very small.   David  Cook  RV6A Rotary.

Thanks for all of the input. Never occured to me that there may be threaded plugs under the epoxy. Kind of begs the question as to why it would be leaking if thats the case. Anyway, assuming there are actually threaded plugs under there I'll feel more comfortable grinding out the epoxy, but still not clear what its going to take to get it to seal.

Early on I had a leaking plug that Bruce had installed in a different location. Had a terrible time getting that to seal up because Bruce tapped with a straight thread rather than tapered thread.

David, look forward to those pictures if you can send them.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike;  Bruce built my short block also, aprox. 4 years ago, he has allen screw plugs in the holes & a drilled bypass internaly.  I'll photo the area ASAP & get it to you for refrence.  David R. My engine seems to be working really well since reseating the improperly seated B chip in the EC-2. I've run for a few hours and have not been able to force a re-occurance of the lost data problem. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I also appear to be jinxed. My engine has developed an oil leak. The engine was built by Bruce Turrentine and one of the mods he performed was to remove the stock oil filter pad. He didnt simply install a block off plate from Racing Beat though. He cut the pad off flush and plugged the remaining holes with what appears to be JB Weld. One of those plugs has suddenly started leaking. Not sure how best to fix this. Thinking the best approach is probably to remove the epoxy and tap for threaded plugs. But I'm afraid there may not be enough metal left to take a thread. Also afraid of dropping epoxy shavings down into the oil passage. I'm open to suggestions.

Man I'm tired of working on this thing. I want to fly it!
