I believe that Halon is a gas and will pour out of every crack and hole there is to the outside, especially at flying speed. Maybe if you have enough Halon to fill the inside of the cowling for one to 2 or 3 minutes it might work. But you always have to think about re-ignition. Maybe foam will stay in there much better and keep spaces filled to prevent re-ignition. I'm definitely not an expert, so get some other opinions, maybe best from fire fighting people. I'm pretty sure the foam can easily be cleaned out.-
