I attribute it to my (perhaps not too wise) philosophy back then of "... if in doubt, build it stout!"... . I later decided the corollary was "... an oz here and an oz there - and before you know it - you have 100 lbs..." 44 lbs of my 100 lbs were two 25 AH concord RGC Batteries weight 22 lbs each. I now fly with one 14 lbs Odyssey batter and have managed to pare a few pounds here and there over the years. Tracy Crook shows the right attitude - although sometimes carries it a bit further than I would feel comfortable with - but build it light and it will really perform. I decided it was cheaper if I just lost 20 lbs or so (still working on that).
