Actually, none of them had any real choice. They were all using the IO-360 (180 or 200 or even 200++ horse power engines). Running less than 100 octane, especially at WOT and/or LOP was simply not an option for any of them. It is also safer for me to run mogas because of my high pressure/high flow fuel system. Actually it is a non-issue for you and me. No worries about vapor lock, water contamination, or damage to our ethanol compatible automotive parts.
But I know we both still love the rotary after going through all the trials and tribulations of getting it flying.
