I do not know about US rules but would expect to be the same.... I would suggest a metal case, in my application it a standard gascolator with a stainless steel filer element, a metal boll and at the bottom a drain port that is checked for contamination before each flight. (Aircraft Spruce has them). Easy to see if contamination from water or particulates...
