Chris,
Did you check that the half-moon key stayed in place after installing the oil pump gear? You can check to see that it is in place with a bent paperclip. I've had problems getting the oil pump to prime after teardown. You could try disconnecting the oil pump discharge line and hooking a vacuum cleaner to it while cranking the engine. That could be enough to get the pump to prime. Or, slight pressure on the crankcase breather while cranking might also do the same thing.

I had my first start today. She sounded good, but the oil stayed at 3-4 PSI, so I shut her down. I opened the line from the oil cooler to filter to see if I was pumping anything. There was a little oil there, it didn’t gush out, but it was there.
So now I have to figure out why I don’t have pressure. I’m open to any ideas or suggestions.
