Hi Doug,
Not too many Lancairs in my neck of the woods, mostly RV's. Although I was contacted by a Lancair ES owner that has just recently moved to New Braunfels (10 minutes from Lockhart). He's contacted me lately wanting to come for a visit. Maybe I'll have some comparison numbers sometime soon. If the Lycoming somehow happens to be a bit faster, then there will definitely be a P-ported 3-rotor in my future.
I'm not sure what hp I was getting, I should have switched pages on the EM-2 (hmmm... another good reason to go fly). We were flying at 4500 msl, fuel burn was 15.8 gph. I'm sure I'll be doing more speed runs and will try not to get too caught up in the adrenalin rush to check the EM-2 for hp. I'll post that number later, but it may be a bit off as I'm still trying to get the fuel flow calibrated, its close, but not right on.
Appreciate the offer on the "burger burns". We'll see, maybe I could talk the wife into flying up to Oklahoma. Has a date been set yet?
A couple of us rotor-heads have been working on someone we know (who will remain nameless) to host a rotary "burger burn" at his hangar-home airport here in the Austin area. We even offered to help with all the planning, etc. Such a deal! There's a bunch of us rotor-heads here in Central Texas. Austin would be a nice central location for a rotry fly-in. News at eight...

Great story...thanks for posting it! At 6,000 rpm and 15 gph, how
many HP do you think you're developing?
Also, have you by chance flown side by side with another Lycoming powered
ES for comparison purposes? If so what did you learn?
We're going to have a couple of "burger burns" at our airport ((2OK2)
just east of Tinker AFB) this Spring / Summer, so maybe you'll feel like going
on a short cross country up this way and show our little EAA chapter
what a three rotor looks and sounds like?!
