I am using the James Aircraft  cowl (lyc version) but I don't think the cowl would make any difference with the IVO.  (the air sees the prop first)  The IVO does seem to work better on pushers since the airflow is already turbulent around the hub.

On that note, Tracy (or anyone).  Do you think the use of the Sam James rotary cowl would make a difference with regards to the IVO prop?  I recall you had some problems with flow around the root of the prop.  I was considering this prop until I read your findings.

Best I could measure, the stock dimension is 37.5"   Mine is close to 40" due to the extra length of the 20B.  I simply glassed a round collar extension behind the prop spinner to get the extra length.  I think this improved the looks and getting the prop further away from the cowl is aerodynamically better.

Tracy or others building RV8s,
What is the stock distance from firewall to prop flange on the RV8,
and/or what is the distance your using?
