Nice job, Jeff. With that prop
and 6100 rpm, you will have a quick launch for sure. I find that with my
Rv-6A, I lack sufficient rudder authority at WOT on take off until I get up to
30-40 MPH – have to use a touch of right brake if I try it. Slow
throttle input until reaching 30-40 mph makes it a non-event. Now you may
have plenty of rudder authority, but thought I would mention it.
Looks like you have sufficient air inlets
for cooling, we will all be awaiting the results – play it safe.
My preference for a first flight is to launch and get to pattern altitude (or a
bit higher), make 5-6 circuits of the pattern as I get the feel of the aircraft
and then land and check out under the cowl. Just one viewpoint of course.

Authority for another Rotary
Thanks Ed, it is hard to wait but I pretty
much have to …
My propeller is a 4-blade Warp Drive,
74” diameter set to 14 degrees pitch or 58”; the gear box is 2.85:1
… my static rpm is 6130.
Attached is an older photo with original
cowls and the new Mazda unpainted cowls for the 2+2.

Great going, Jeff!!! Always an
exciting day when another rotary powered aircraft takes to the air. How about
some data for the interested - such as prop size, gear box and static
rpm. Drop the deer hunting and go hunt for a test pilot {:>).
A couple of photos of your finished
project for the list to drool over would be nice as well..

Authority for another Rotary
Ed, Cary, Tracy and others …
I received my Flight Authority last night in the mail. Another
rotary-powered machine is set to go … delayed by one week due to deer
hunting and then the daunting task of begging for a test pilot. Next update
after first flight.
