Mine is the same – well, maybe I’d only need to go to the 2 o’clock position.  Tuned with the program knob at 12 o’clock, the 12 o’clock position on the mixture knob gives me lean cruise; in fact maybe a little too lean – so somewhere toward 3 o’clock gives make max takeoff power.  I guess it has something to do with O2 sensor response.  Full rich is not quite to the top on the display mixture bar either.
