I know this because I was using that to drive my automotive tach, and also a canopy lock warning if the RPMs exceeded 3500 RPM's and the canopy was not locked. I sent my EC-2 off for an upgrade, and when I got it back, the tach didn't work. After talking to Tracy, he told me that he did away with it, because of some potential interaction with the controller and whatever that pin is hooked to. He did tell me that I could use a pull up resistor and tat pin would still work, but to keep the resistance as high as possible. Since I was using a cmos chip for my divider, I was able to put a 100K resister from the +12 volt to the input on my divider circuit. It worked great, and I have not had any issues at all with that circuit. I actualy have The tach driver, Canopy lock warning, and a 5 minute fuel transfer timer and the circuit board. All I have is my hand drawing of it, but if you want it, I could scan it and email it to you. All of the parts are readily available. I have it mounted in a small plastic case with a terminal strip on the outside. It also has the warning beeper mounted to the box, and there is a relay in the box to switch on the tranfer fuel pump. Anyone know? This is in reference to recalibrating John Downing's tachometer. I will publish what I've done as soon as I have it working.
