Pool handrail is much more likely to be 303 or 304 ss. 316 is much more expensive and is normally used only for speciality tubing.

Swimming pool handrail is most likely 316ss, but .045" is approx 1.2mm thick and you would want 1.6mm ( .062") for exhaust headers.

That is actually very heplfull. On monday I will go to my local supplier and see if I can lay my hands on some sched 5 or ched 10 SS ells and see what they look like. I did mock something up with some of the pool handrail SS pipe I have but not sure about the material as it is onlly .045 thick wall and I do not know what grade SS it is.
