Tracy speaks about torsional resonance, rather than torsional vibrations ( to me it's like splitting hairs) and he goes on to talk about the ride being smoother. Smoother ride equates to less transfer of vibrations, to me. Therefore if I wanted to make sure about isolating the gearbox from torsional vibrations/ resonance large reversals (single rotor as I'm doing) I would not depend upon the springs. However Ernest is happy to accept the concept for the convenience, which I suspect is the ability to drive the inlet shaft of the PSRU - with off the shelf components.
