Dean,
    I used a piece of 3/8" thick 4"  iron channel I saw at a welding shop,
drilled some large holes to hold the angle to the stand and then drilled
holes to match the front iron side housing (where the large bolt holes for
mounting the airconditioner/etc goes).

  What ever you come up with, try to make certain it doesn't interfer with
such things as removing sparkplugs or other items as you do the tear down.
Also try to match the C.G of the engine to the pivot point of your engine
stand as best you can - that will preclude the engine from suddenly swapping
ends should the pivot bolt slip {:>)
