Like Ed, I
also wanted to have the ability to shut off coolant to the cockpit. Many of the
available heater control valves appear to do just that as they have 2 tube
nipples stacked together (a quick search on the net failed to find an image of
one), however it is just a tease, as none of the ones I found actually control
the flow in the bottom tube. This makes it kind of pointless and if used,
requires another set of hose clamps… more weight and another place to leak. So
I live with coolant pressure in the cockpit at all times… probably never going
to be a problem.

Control Valve
Hi Scott,
I have a valve in one of my coolant lines to my heater core.
It does an effective job of keeping the hot coolant circulating
through the core - however, it does not perform the one function I had
wanted and that was shutting off the coolant in case of a leak. You would
need a valve in both lines (duh!) to the core - at least that is the way
it appears to me.
