Kelly, please forward this to the flyrotary list.  My posts never get there.

Scott,

I used something like this:

Earl's Performance EAR-230503ERL (see photo)

The part number is from Summit Racing.  If you do a search on that part number or the term "shut-off valve" you will see it.  Don't know if you want AN type fittings or just tube fittings, but this works great for a water shut-off.  I actuate it with a servo controller that controls your typical Futaba or Hitec R/C servos.  See:

But you could just as easily use a cable.  Just drill a hole in the handle.

Best Regards,

Steve Thomas

Hi Scott,

I have a valve in one of my coolant lines to my heater core.  It does an effective job of keeping the hot coolant circulating through the core - however, it does not perform the one function I had wanted and that was shutting off the coolant in case of a leak.  You would need a valve in both lines (duh!)  to the core - at least that is the way it appears to me.

Any thoughts on a simple cable actuated valve( 5/8" ) for the inbound hose to a heater core?  I have thought about not routing air through the heater core when I don't want heat, then have the flapper route the air through it when I do want heat.  But, with the temps hitting 90F+ in N. Carolina I am reminded that it might be best to not have any extra heat in the cabin in the summer...

Thx...
-Scott
