Mike McGee of this list was working on his version of the
backplate/mount but at last report the project was on the back
burner.....

Man, that's a
name from the past... If you happen to run across the picture, I'd love to see
it.
There are
good and bad points to everything, but I still think the ability to use the
stock mount would be quite a nice option. I'll keep thinking about it.
