Rusty,
   Mike McGee of this list was working on his version of the
backplate/mount but at last report the project was on the back
burner.....Perhaps if enough interest was shown by the group
he might revive the project.........I had a photo of his mockup
mounted on a RV4 engine mount but it seems to have been 
lost somewhere.......His version had a spot for the alternator
and a direct drive waterpump !!

That's really too bad.  It was probably more expensive than anything I'd consider, but an affordable front cover replacement that would bolt to a dynafocal mount would really make the installation much easier.  It wouldn't likely be optimal, but I bet there's be a lot more people willing to try a rotary engine if it was that easy to bolt one one.
