FWIW,
I have my two pumps protected by 7.5A fuses. (Ed, don't cringe!) If I had to
do it over, I'd use circuit breakers here, but since we have pump
redundancy, there should never a life threatening situation.
Remember, a fuse or CB is there to protect the wire not the pump so you
might rate your protect to the wire gauge.  :-)
No problems yet, but we have a short history.
