Hello All...

I received my 13b from Bruce T. with it's associated
box'o'parts.  After actually having the stock coils in
hand I can really appreciated their appreciable size
and weight.  8 pounds of weight and the perceived
savings of 5 or pounds by using the LS1 coils.

However, I cannot seem to dig up how the LS1 coils
were arrived at as a substitute for the stock 13b
coils.  It would be appreciated if someone could
provide a history lesson on why the LS1 coils seem to
be the chosen alternative to the stock coils.  Was it
weight alone?  More energy?  Better reliability?

History lesson aside...Pieces parts...

The following list of parts( pulled from Richard
Martin's posting ) are what are required to get from
the coils to Tracy's ignition controller...

Qty. 4 - LS1 coils - GM # 12558948.

Qty. 1 - Wiring Harness which has the connectors for
the 4 coils and a 7 pin connector for the other end? -
GM# 12569111.

Qty. 1 - 7 pin female connector to get me from the
wiring harness to my harness which goes to the
controller - GM# 12102754.

Wire these all up and add a few spark plug wires and
I'm all done with this subsystem, right?  Oh and
mentioning spark plug wires, if I am using the LS1
coils, do they dictate the use of a particular brand,
core, length, etc.?

Thanx...
