I bought a JDM engine, = stripped it down, built the intake and other peripherals, and flew it = that way for about 10 hours. I then removed the engine and rebuilt it. = If I was doing it over, I'd just rebuild it up front. I did mine = myself, and also with Tray's book and Bruce's video. It was pretty = easy, and I don't consider my mechanical ability as a particular strong = point. If you do the mild street porting, you should easily get 180+ HP. I = went the turbo route, and it does come with more weight, and more heat = to dissipate. If you want any photos, I would be happy to provide you with as many as = you want. John Slade is another Cozy builder with a 13B, also turbo. I haven't = looked at his web site in a few years, but it has been very good. John = took the time to document his project, in great detail. I just built = mine, and while I kept a log, and took lots of photos, that was about = it. The 13B route is not for someone who doesn't like the experimental side = of flying. There have been two other Cozy builders that after flying = for a few hours have elected to change them out to the Lycoming. =20 As for me, I am very happy with my decision to go with the rotary. = But, I also enjoy tinkering with it. I have purchased Tracy Crook's Book and Bruce = Turrentine CD and both book and CD have a lot of good information. = However, there is still a lot I need to learn which are not discussed in = these materials. In general, I am thinking I will do a street port in = order to get the engine to 180 hp. My Question is does anyone have this = configuration in a Cozy and am I on the right track? Note: I have purchased new Rotor Housings and other parts, so my = investment is growing. I thinking I could sell the engine if this is = not a good Idea. Also, I could use suggestions as to where to get more = information on installation of this engine in an aircraft. Thank you in advance.
