. The rotary is about the fussiest
engine in the world on starting fuel requirements but once you get it right
they start immediately. Get it wrong and you are in for long term
frustration.
I guess it is a function of induction
system design, or the use of shrouded plugs. I have found my 20B to be
very tolerant of fuel/mixture when starting, even when seriously flooded. On
any “cold start” (even at 80F) I routinely turn mixture knob to
about 3:00; turn on ‘cold start’ switch,
and crank. When it starts, which is quite promptly, I turn off the cold
start switch, and then adjust the mixture knob as needed. I haven’t
as yet had to start it below about 40 - 50 F, but I’m confident it would.
