Group,
Received this from Steve and thought it might be of interest to the group........As
a side note the last issue of "Sport Aviation" (do not remember the page) stated
that "Mistral" has received FAA certification on their 300hp NA 3 rotor engine
with their other engine models to follow........Tracy Crook and Dave Atkins were also
mentioned as "Kingpins" on the experimental side.........

Howdy!<

Project is moving along slowly. I never had a clue as to how hard it would be to design and fabricate a custom cowl; at least for me. I'm sure others would think it a piece-of-cake. I'm just finishing up on my cowl fabrication that it has taken me nearly a year to do. I'd have been flying by now if I had gone the lycosaur route. I feel the pain of folks like Buly over abandoning their rotary projects, although for different reasons. But, hey, what's "experimental" about anyway? I'm just finishing my nose gear door fabrication and still need to cut access doors in the top of the cowl for water and oil.
Mistral is going gangbusters right now selling three-rotors to third-world locations. These are folks who need mogas powered engines. They are sold-out of production for the next two or three years. Good news as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, they went to Oshkosh. Don't know much about their experience there. I didn't go.
Best Regards,
Steve Thomas
