Where on the Mazda site?  Do you have a link.

It could be that our friend P.L. had something influence in this.  He talked
to the Mazda engineers about this idea when he was there a couple of years
ago, and I recall he was doing some detailed design drawings of an engine
with 1600mm rotor widths more than a year ago.
