Rusty send me a schematic for the alternator.
Looks like it has some useful warning functions built in - overvoltage, open circuit, low output etc.

I brought my alternator to our local alternator rebuilder, who put new bearings in in, cleaned it up, and tested it. I had the same question for him regarding the wires.  If you send a picture of your alternator, I will compare it to my alternator. If it appears the same, I can point out  which is the idiot light, and which is the field. P.S.  I was also told that if I run the alternator without the idiot light circuit connected, that I would probably trash the alternator.  For what it's worth.  Paul Conner, 13b powered SQ2000 almost finished.
