Dennis, To determine the airflow in the intake plenum, what about putting a small "mini cam" in the intake area. Tape some pieces of yarn in there, and film what is going on while flying. Yarn is against the interior walls, but you also need some small "Y" wires to give a 1" and 2" stand off so we can see what is going on (use different color yarn on the different heights). This will at least give a base point of "just where does the air go?" Years back, porting the Datsun cylinder heads, I found a clear plexi tube and a piece of string showed me the best results. Tube id was same diameter as the cylinder, and as the port was modified it was interesting to note I had LESS flow but more swirl. That head was great for the street! SU's with a ton of torque made it one fun car. Ed was commenting what worked for the
race car might not apply to the airplane, and that came to mind. Dennis --- Was Ron W your chase pilot the other night? We were sitting outside trying to figure out what he was up to, until we heard you in the run up area. :) Tom
