I suspect connection problem between the two. Vitally critical is the ground path between the two. Then there are things like "ground loops" and shields. Is the control panel grounded to something else other than wire(s) directly to the ECU box? The longer the wire run between the control panel and the ECU box, the more critical the shielding of the wires between the two. If there are ground wire(s) in addition to the shield, I actually don't know of the shield must be grounded at both ends or at the ECU box only. From Burly's experience, the control panel connector must not be twisted or otherwise moved in relation to the circuit board in the control panel. Intermittent connections are a bitch!
