References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Folks, Problem # 1: I am getting sick and tired of my *#$& Prestolite alternator and (particularly) the regulator. I am thinking about a lighter weight unit with internal regulator that has one switchable wire to the (internal) regulator to turn alt on and off, one output to the battery. I seem to recall in the distant past some discussion on internal regulators. There were concerns about runaway regulators causing large over voltage. I do not recall any of these concerns coming from actual experience, but my memory is dim on that. I would like to hear from anyone with experience with integrated alternator/ regulator systems, and suggestions as to which units (I'm told Honda has a nice one) might be suitable. I reckon I need 40-50 amps. Problem # 2: Some of my instruments are lit by post lights in the corners of the instruments, but most are in the dark except for an instrument light trying (to little effect) to shine on the whole panel. I envision some sort of little flood lights mounted on the glare shield (mine comes back about 6" from the panel) of my Velocity that would be simple, small, adjustable / aimable, easy to retrofit and red. Anyone have any suggestions? Would some sort of LED array work? How much would variable brightness complicate things? Any and all suggestions welcome .... Jim S.
