Did I see an isolated post last month or so when I first
rejoined the list to the effect that someone was using one in an airplane and
having some problems? I'm not sure. Any details? Jim S.
Since Todd is probably
away from the list for a while, I'll answer this. Todd Bartrim is using
one of the Davies Craig EWPs on his RV-9. In all his static testing, and
engine runs, including initial flight tests, the pump has seemed to work very
well. There is one issue, but it's a biggie. The pump has seized
twice, both times on the ground. The hope, and expectation is that he
was just unlucky enough to get a defective pump. He's in the
process of replacing the pump, but the mail between Oz and Canada
seems to be something less than efficient. I believe Leon has sent
him two replacements, the second after the first failed to arrive. Todd is
gone for a few weeks as a hunting guide, then has a few weeks of studying to do
prior to going back off to trade school, so I'm not sure we'll get a full
resolution until Spring, which is probably about July in Canada
:-)
Cheers,
Rusty (I still like the
EWP)
