Joe,
You
definitely want the T04 flange, and also you'll want to go with an external
waste gate.
Paul
and Lou in SC built a Lancair with a 20B turbo. I know that Paul monitors
this group, so he may be able to send you some photos of their intake.
They had theirs made using SS bends, and welded up to a T04 flange.
I'm
not sure what other work they did to the engine, i.e. porting or whatever, but
Paul told me that it dyno'd at 580 HP at 10 lbs of boost. They haven't
flown it yet, but I was in the plane for a fast taxi, and it definitely has got
a lot of power. They limit it to 4-5 lbs of boost, so I'm not sure what
the HP is at that level. Scoots down the runway
though.

For those with turbo experience, what turbo
mounting flange would you consider for a 20B. I am planning on running
my 20B NA at first and may add a turbo at a later time. I would like to
build my exhaust manifold to accomidate the turbo later on, if I go that
route. Boost would be minimal, mostly the turbo would be for
normalizing. With the limited knowledge I have at this point, I am leaning
towards a T04 flange / internal waste gate. Any suggestions are
appreciated. Anyone have experience with RX-7 RX-8 & Miata Specialties in Canada (rotaryengine.ca) I
am looking at their turbo manifold for the 20B (note the picuures on their web
site do not reflect the current manifold design, the current design is better
balanced between the tubes.)
Thanks,
Joe
