Yep, I’m going with stainless on my next heat shield too! It doesn’t have to be thick – just something that doesn’t melt at 700deg like aluminum!

BTW, I use 321 stainless steel for shielding the exhaust.  I have a sheet of
.020 thick (from Wicks I think) and also some foil, which is used in heat treating.

The first is very stable, the second is very light.

When my pipes leak, the shield protects the airplane.
