I just got a e mail from Paul of the Lou and Paul team
building the turbocharge 3 rotor Lancair ES in South Carolina. Apparently
everything is going well. The aircraft has passed inspection but has not
flow as yet. They have made several high speed runs with the
aircraft/engine showing tremendous acceleration. The engine had been
dynoed and reported puts out 500 HP. Wow!
They are awaiting favorable wind conditions as their
initial operating limitation precludes them from launching on runway 27
(apparently some housing or something) for the first 10 hours. Naturally,
the wind has been out of the West/Southwest here in the Carolinas for the past
week at least. So hopefully it will get around to the east some time soon (not
really likely until hurricane season) or will at least stay
calm.
Paul indicated he wanted to get on the list, so I pointed
him in the right direction. Hopefully, he'll show up and give us a first
flight report.
