Great link!
Last Jan 25th I removed an '82 Chevy
Caprice core - measured 10 3/8" high (plus tubes/fittings coming out top),
by 10 3/4 (or 7/8) wide (7 7/8 of core + 3" for 2 side/end caps) & 3
1/2 deep/thick. Volumn is 286 cubic inches not counting end caps.
Looking at your web link, the 77-85 Caprices are
same - they look like about the biggest I've seen anyone else mention. I
need to get another.
These things are well protected in the car so not
"dinged" by anything. I hacksawed off the smaller dia alum tube during
removal because I couldn't get fitting off (left 8" of tubing on
core).
I sent out an e-mail that date (25 Jan 03) but
can't find my copy - gave detailed instructions for sequence of removal of LOTS
of stuff to get the plastic housing off - had to remove the chrome strip running
along bottom windshield and other stuff like that. Take a good set of
small sockets of English & metric sizes with a ratchet and some
extensions.
Someone else's recent e-mail mentioned A/C oil in
the core makes welding on new fittings a hard job. Its just oil - run
solvent through and blow it out until clean - small job at a mechanic's shop
with solvent cleaning machine and air.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: evap cores?
I just
found this link, which doesn't give dimensions, but does show a drawing of each
core, for just about every vehicle ever made. At least you can see the
general layout of tubes, and general construction.
Cheers,
Rusty
