OK, sounds like I've finally reached the point where I need to send Tracy $$$, not just questions ! :-)

Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: trans

At my request, Bruce built the 20B for my RV-8 using a manual trans 3rd gen rear side housing so it bolts up to the RD-1B just like any 2nd gen 13B.  This caused a few engine build issues (no time to describe now). If using a stock 20B it should be easy to fabricate a bracket to compensate for the missing bolt hole (Easy for me to say since I didn't have to do it : )   Al Gietzen's integrated solution to this problem and relocation of starter is elegant, light and as usual for him, esthetically pleasing.  But what is exactly right for his installation may not be right for yours.

Look at the holes you have to work with (I'd suggest looking at the starter mount holes in the 20B engine block first) and envision the part that it would take to go between there and the engine adapter plate.  It really can't be too hard.  I'll take a look at the standard 20B down in the shop and post whatever comes to mind.
