Yesterday I loaded the front seat of my CZ with 500 pounds of lard (me and Richard Richmond) and did 3 not too high speed runs on runway 31.
We had cross wind for the long runway so they put us on 31 which is the shorter of the two
Plane tracked nicely and accelerated well. The Matco brakes did their job nicely with the high load. First run was only at 40-45 Knots. Second and third were 55-60K. Richard is a long time glider pilot and LEZ driver. I asked him to do the driving since he has something to compare to. The Turbo 13B rotary is impressive. Last week I installed on my stock turbo a second 1.5" exhaust tube parallel to the main to bypass the turbine and reduce the turbo's RPM / high boost. (One day I will install a bigger turbo)
Had to pull the throttle back on Richard the first time and make him keep the MP below 32". He said "This thing is ready to fly".
I will have to adjust some small "things" yet on the engine and than let him lift the canard on the long 6000 ft runway.
Thanks to John Slade for landing me his newly refinished Performance prop. He has flown with it and I know it will fly with my plane. For the taxi tests I taped the back side of the prop blades with one layer of clear packing tape to reduce dings, and it is holding very well. Nobody can tell there is tape on the prop unless looks from 3". That's all for now Folks. Heading for TX in the morning and hope to see you there.
