I have some pictures of a turbo with an internal wastegate for you folks that havn't seen one before:
look for the files with turbo in their name, (well with this fine audience maybe the last comment was not neccessary). It is for a Mazda 323 btw and is for sale (too small for a 13B)
 
If you look at that internal wastegate you'd think the engineers must have been joking, that's like taking a sledgehammer to the exhaust pipe to improve flow.
 
I have been thinking about building a wastegate with a Y in it so the gasses can bypass the turbo completely (to have lower backpressure and to be able to fly negative G stuff without ruining the turbo.)
