Today I decided to fire up the engine again and see how far I can go
on the static rpm. As you may remember I totally removed the
wastegate from my stock turbo. This time I was able to rich 4000+ RPM
and 50" MP. Further advancement of the throttle did reduce the RPM
slightly? Looks like the prop was too much for the engine? I was
surprised to see such a high MP with two rather big holes below the
turbine wide open.
Any comments?

What is the EGT and A/F at that RPM? What timing do you have at that RPM/Boost?

Lynn E. Hanover

Hi Lynn,
I was more fixated on the RPM and MAP, but the EGT was around 1500F I believe. Also past 4000 RPM the engine started missing. I went up and down with the mixt. controll, but it did not do much. I did not have long time to fiddle around since the water temp was going past 220 and I pulled back. My timing is set by Tracy's initial timing  (static) instructions. As I understand it, the EC takes care of retarding after that?
