It also doesn't have to work against a thermostat. With the mechanical pump we have to work harder to overcome the restriction of the thermostat which is required to regulate temp. Now removal of this thermostat (itself a controversial topic) eliminates this restriction, but now we have no control over engine temps, and the pump is now flowing more than is necessary. This higher flow can itself generate more heat (remember the oil outlet mod - 15 degree drop in temps. This electric pump is not trying to duplicate the work done by the mechanical pump, this is simply not possible. What it is doing is using an entirely different method to circulate the required amount of coolant to precisely maintain engine temps and no more. Why haven't the OEM's jumped all over this? Haven't you asked the same questions with regards to rotary vrs. reciprocating? We all believe they are superior, but I still find myself explaining the concept to others who are incapable of thinking outside of the box. This pump is a similar idea, from outside of the box. I would suggest that most of what we think we know about cooling with a mechanical pump doesn't directly apply here. I don't have the answers, but I've invested a few dollars and a few hours of time in an effort to find out for myself. These may yet prove to be the thoughts of a raving lunatic, but what the hell, I'm having fun with this experimenting so for that alone, I'm getting full value. S.
