Just one thing to add these systems have a fuel return line to the tank, the pumps have a 90/95lbs dead head pressure regulated down to 29/40lbs & fuel excess returned to the tank.

Most of the EFI cars have at least a "lift" pump, if not the actual high pressure pump, in the fuel tank to prevent vapor lock.

As I recall, putting the filter between the tank and pump was true for the pre EFI cars, which were prone to vapor locking. But I can?t think of any of the newer EFI cars that put the filter before the pump (excluding screen filters). Can you provide any examples?
