steel braid" ain't "steel" - it's rubber and/or teflon tubing - stuff that
will melt from heat soaking from hot calipers back into hose.

David the teflon in the braided lines is 400°F stuff. Fairly tough race cars with carbon-carbon brakes use the stuff, and you can see their brakes glowing red!
