Hopefully, your rough engine is as
simple as a fouled plug. Is it rough at all speeds? Ok at idle rough at
higher rpm?
It gets better as the speed increases, but it's
not "spooky smooth" like I described it before. Until I do some
tuning, there is no idle. It won't run below about 2000 rpm, but
this is something that Tracy is sure is a tuning problem. I would like
to start working on tuning the engine this weekend, and I've been whining
as hard as I can to get Tracy to send me the new firmware. He now offers
an option of using his actual engine parameters as a default, instead of
the normal factory default (which is still an option). That would
put me in the ballpark quickly.
Waaaaa can I have my firmware now Tracy
:-)
As I recall, Tracy's default MAP settings for the
EC2 is a bit rich for the lower rpms and comes out about on the money for the
high rpms. Do you have an Air/Fuel Mixture sensor monitor? Even
though the simple LED ones are not what I would call accurate, they are really
very helpful (I don't like to fly without one now) as they do provide a
relative indication of what is happening to your air/fuel mixture. I can
detect on the monitor that the mixture is going too lean (LED lights headed
toward the lean point) before the engine starts to stumble and by quickly
enriching the mixture - catch it. Tracy and I both agree, that while you
can tune your engine using just EGT, it is much harder and more frustrating to
do so compared to using even a simple LED A/F indicator.
Hopefully you will find that your initial weight
is erroneous. 50lbs for radiator and coolant is err.. impressive!
Should have no problems with cooling {:>)
