Concerning the EAA
The ultimate response to this issue is to simply not attend Air Venture and
look at it as a fund raiser instead of an experimental fly-in.
The next response is to organize an alternative location like that of
SERFI.
The last response is to think of the EAA as a home builders and experimental
legal defense fund / advocate for us to the FAA (OK, I'm stretching here).
Perspective is everything in this.
Maybe one day a small child or new aviation enthusiast or even the EAA will
look around and ask "Where are the Experimenters"? Maybe then the EAA will
wake up and see.
Of course that day might not be to far away after all the big commercial
tents and stands take completely over and people find it can cost just as
much as a certified factory as it does for a Homebuilt without the
knowledge and input from our pioneers. Of if someone asks "Are any of these
owned by ordinary income people like me"?
Thats why they call us Experimental (with stress on the mental of course).
Putting aviation within the reach of more Americans is what we are really
about though it may not necessarily be the sole (or any) focus of the EAA.
Still a member,
