Last year we were racing at Gingerman in western Michigan. It was cool, about
65 degrees. A friend asked for help in getting his cooling fan to run on his
Honda Civic.
He was over heating and the Honda engineer said that without that little fan,
there was just no way it would cool. I thought that it shouldn't matter,
because of the OAT.
I wired the fan to come on with the ignition. He ran the race with no
problems. With the little fan running, the small radiator will cool the car at top
speed on a hot day. Without the fan it will not cool on a cool day. I have
therefore deduced that a fan will nearly double the effectiveness of a (seemingly
undersized) radiator. The Honda fans are available at a junk yard near. Racing
catalogs have many different sizes to fit any radiator shape.
