If I were you, I wouldn't give up on the dual pump setup so quickly.  Having a redundant pump is one of the main reasons to use the EWP.  There's also every reason to believe (for those who are willing to believe) that the flow rates you're getting with the dual pumps will be just fine.  As Jim pointed out, my 2 gallons of coolant cycles through the entire system in pretty short order with most any flow rate that we're talking about.  That really put it in perspective for me.
