Good news and bad !! The sensor will fit for depth but the thread is 12mmx1.25 as opposed to 12mmx1.50 for the housing......
Funny, the sensors I ordered were available in 12mm x 1.00 Isn't metric supposed to make life easier? How many thread pitches to we need :-)
One last thing or two ......The sensor body and threads are plastic (Nylon??) so be careful and not tighten to much.....Also buy the little elastic sealing gasket that "Mazdatrix" sells for this sensor....... Also let us know if this thing works !!.......FWIW (NO Warranty)
Thanks for all the measurements, but you'll have to find someone else to test these. As I mentioned in later messages, I've ordered two 1/4"NPT optical sensors, and I also noticed that the wp temp sensor location is in the same place as my 1/4"NPT tapped hole. Since this is directly in the water outlet channel of the wp housing, so I assume it will always see water here, until the level has dropped enough to make the water pump quit working. Not the most effective warning system :-(
I'm now thinking of making a firewall mounted aluminum reservoir, that can gravity feed into my filler neck. I would plan to put the level sender in that tank. Unfortunately, this tank can't be very big, and still gravity feed to the engine. Still thinking of options, and trying not to keep dragging out this Rev-4 re-work.
Cheers,
Rusty (some hope the cowl mods won't offend my senses)
